What is the difference between Clingstone and Freestone peaches?Updated 2 months ago

Clingstone peach varieties are available from mid-May to early June and do not "fall off" of the pit. They are wonderful for eating in hand and the pit can be cut around for baking or processing. 

Freestone peach varieties are available from late June to early September. They come cleanly off of the pit when sliced down the middle, making them slightly easier to process.
